Writing the history of the Missouri Guerrillas, or Partisan Rangers is going to take a while. And it may be beyond the province of the of this site or the capabilities of the webmaster to provide it. The Civil War may have started in April of 1861 with the bombardment of Fort Sumter. But men from Missouri and Kansas began fighting over many of the issues that caused the Civil War in the 1850's. To begin to provide historical data for people who are interested in the Guerrillas and the war in the Trans-Mississippi, I will provide some links to Guerrilla websites below and on the link page. I would remind everyone that history is not science. It is very subjective and open to interpretation. The history of any conflict is initially it is written by the winner, and therefore supports their views. The challenge to people of our time is to dig deep enough to find both sides of the story.
